The monsoon thunderstorms are spreading across the canyon today. As I watch this cloud movement the light comes and goes over the cliffs. This is the kind of drama that is so inspiring to see and it almost always leads me to the art board. Watch for new paintings!

Summer Solstice

On this, the summer solstice, long sun rays linger on the Muav and Redwall Cliffs late into the evening. Summer heat feels like a heavy velvet cape over my shoulders as the rocks and canyon walls reflect it back and radiate the days warmth late into the night. I love this time of year. In the 30 plus years I have lived at Roaring Springs I never tire of natures flow.

Can I tell you that oil paint can still intimidate? It does! No matter how many times I have loaded a brush with color it can still tell me things I never knew. My goal however is to continue to say the things about the Canyon that cannot be said with words. Hope you enjoy... and if you are on the North Kaibab Trail this summer, stop by and say hello!
